Bridge and deck reconstruction and miscellaneous improvements

Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension

Project Description

The Project consisted of 2.2 miles of staged reinforced cast-in-place concrete bridge deck and barrier replacement of the two lane roadway of the Westbound NJ Turnpike Authority NB-HCE. In addition, lighting and drainage improvements were made and the approach pavement at Interchange 14C was replaced with precast panels during weekend-long work periods.

WB NJ Turnpike NB-HCE is a two lane elevated roadway passing over multiple arterial, local roads and railways. This required coordination of work activities with local authorities such as City of Jersey City, NJ DOT, Conrail, NJ Light Rail, PATH as well as other contractors working on Route 139. Phase 3 of the project reduced the loss of service to one lane and did not allow for any lane closures.
